Wapsi Canoe Trip Oct 13, 2019

The Wapsi Canoe Trip is coming up this Sunday.   If you plan to go, please register by Thursday night so we can make plans for travel.   We currently have 4 canoes rented.

Crew Meeting Sunday Sept 22nd at 7pm

This Sunday we will have a venturing crew meeting at the FCC at 7pm which is an hour later than normal.   Please bring ideas for crew activities to consider over the next few months so we can plan a calendar of events.   

Bahamas Blackbeard's Scuba Trip Meeting August 25th, 2019 6pm at Steindler Clnic

We will have an information meeting about our next high adventure trip for 2020.   We are going on a scuba trip to the Bahamas on a liveaboard ship.   Please plan to attend this information meeting if you are interested in going. The meeting will be at the Steindler Orthopedic Clinic at  2751 Northgate Dr, Iowa City. Please enter through the door North of the main entrance.

Philmont Meeting 7/21/19 at 3:30PM

We will have our scheduled training hike from 1-3:30pm on Sunday at Lake Macbride.   We will then have a meeting at Lake Macbride to go over Philmont Logistics.   All crew members who are going to Philmont should plan to attend.  

Yellow River Philmont Shakedown Campout June 14-16, 2019.

The Yellow River Campout is coming up on June 14-16.  Registration is now open.  The deadline to register is June 9th.   This is open to all crew members and adults.  This will be a self-contained backpacking weekend. 

Crew Meeting May 19th, 7pm

There will be a crew meeting on Sunday May 19th at 7pm for Philmont Participants.  We will meet in the Youth room.    Please come to the meeting with your pack filled with all Philmont gear and loaded with 4 liters of water.   We will go over the pack list line item by line item and look at what everyone has.  We want to make sure you have good gear and nothing too heavy.   If we have time, we will go through a few Philmont videos as well. 

Maquoketa Caves Campout May 24-26, 2019

Venturing Crew 2016 Maquoketa Cave State Park Campout is scheduled for May 24-26th, 2019.   This is open to all crew members.   This will also be the 2nd Philmont Shakedown Campout, so we will be having backpacking food.   Please register by May17th so we have time to order our trail food.  Click on "Read More" for details and registration information.

Lake Macbride Philmont Training Campout April 26-27, 2019

Crew 2016 will have it's first Philmont Training campout at Lake Macbride State Park.   This is highly recommended for those crew members who are going on our Philmont Trip.  It is also open to all other crew members as well.  Deadline to register is Tuesday April 23rd to give us time to shop for food.   Click Read More below to register.

Philmont Training Hikes Begin April 20th, 2019.

Easter is this weekend, so there will be no meeting on Sunday night. However, we will plan for a Philmont Training hike on Saturday at 10am at Squire Point trailhead. All are welcome. Those going on Philmont should wear their hiking boots and bring their pack with at least 20lbs in it.

Crew Meeting Sunday March 24, 2019 at 7pm.

There will be a crew meeting Sunday March 24th at 7pm at the FCC..   We will meet at the same time as Troop 2000.  We will use the youth room in the back.   Please bring your calendars as we will need to set up our campouts over the next few months.  

Philmont Scout Ranch Trek July/Aug 2019

Philmont Scout Ranch, the Boy Scouts of America's premier High Adventure™ base, challenges Venturing Crew members with more than 214 square miles of rugged northern New Mexico wilderness. Backpacking treks, horseback cavalcades, and training and service programs offer young people many ways to experience this legendary country.

Crew 2016 has secured a reservation for a 12 day trek at Philmont Scout Ranch for the Summer of 2019!!! 

Crew Meeting Sunday Jan 27th, 2019.

Next crew meeting will be for Philmont Participants on Sunday Jan 27th most likely at the FCC at 7pm. We will go over itinerary selection and gear.
